My perspective on English 1301 has changed since I first enrolled in the class. English 1301 is not about just writing essay and improving techniques for the writing process but including that there are far more deeper lessons within the class that most people cannot see. The work that my classmates and I have done throughout this semester enforced questions about what to expect in my future field of study. It impacted my thinking about certain statements that I have been told about the major that I will soon be giving my full attention on. It made me wonder if my field of study relies on others like I had to rely on my peers to successfully review my essays and provide me good feedback, so I know what to improve for a more effective essay. As the semester was ending more questions were building up about what my future holds. Luckily, some of those questions about what I will encounter in the next steps of my education were answered and identified. Because one of the assignments during this semester required me to write about my future discourse community, I had to research about what kind of task were associated within my next goal of education. Researching my major helped me discoverer questions about what to expect in the future and if I was going to enjoy doing this type of engagement. The assignments in English 1301 also taught me that it takes practice in order to enhance skills which is a good lesson taught for my future references. I can envision applications for the thinking and writing I have done in this course such as being able to analyze different types of context and use it to develop the designations of a writing assignment in terms of critical thinking, subjects, and rhetorical purpose.
